Asthma and Respiratory Clinic

We have two Practice Nurses who are responsible for the management of our patients with asthma and respiratory lung diseases, they are Karen and Sandra. They are happy for you to make an appointment in the Asthma Clinic for a review but if you cannot attend during these times alternative appointments can be offered. It is advisable that patients with asthma attend the clinic annually to ensure that their symptoms are being regularly monitored and any adjustments to managing the disease are made. It is useful to bring your inhalers with you to clinic along with any peak flow recordings that you may be keeping.

Diabetic Clinic

The diabetic clinic provides screening for those patients with established diabetes as well as those who have been newly diagnosed. We offer a full annual review which includes dietary and lifestyle interventions, blood and urine testing and if necessary medication and insulin adjustment. With an ever-increasing number of people developing diabetes the clinics are quite busy, so we would recommend ringing to book your appointment 2-3 weeks before you are due to be seen. [top]

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) Clinic

All of our nurses have a responsibility for the management of patients with CHD and are happy to see patients for routine blood pressure reviews. The clinic provides screening for those patients with established CHD and those who have risk factors associated to developing CHD. We offer a full annual review that includes dietary and lifestyle interventions and blood and urine testing. If necessary we can initiate medication or adjust doses of established medication, under the guidance of the doctors. [top]

Wart Clinic

Wart Clinics are held approximately every 3 weeks at Hanway Road Surgery – receptionists can advise when Clinics are available. Warts, veruccas, small skin tags and some skin lesions can be treated with liquid nitrogen. It is usual for the Doctor to make the referral to ensure that treatment with liquid nitrogen is appropriate. [top]

Triage Clinic

Hanway Road Surgery - Monday to Friday Mornings & Afternoons

Triage Clinics are held every day at Hanway Road Surgery and offers urgent same day access to those patients who are feeling too unwell to wait for a routine appointment. The sorts of illnesses that often require an appointment include:

Sore throat
Ear ache
Cough
Urine infection
Skin infections i.e. eczema, impetigo etc.
Sprains and strains
Sudden abdominal pain
Emergency contraception (morning after pill)
Chest pain
Persistent fever

It is important to note that this is not a clinic for routine follow up of test results, repeat prescriptions or to discuss on going established illnesses and conditions. [top]

Travel Clinic

Stubbington Avenue - Wednesday Morning and Tuesday Afternoon

As a registered Yellow Fever Centre we are able to offer a full and comprehensive travel service to both those patients registered with our Practice and as a private service to those non-registered patients. The clinic operates from our branch surgery at Stubbington Avenue. Ideally patients requiring travel vaccinations should book their appointment at least 4-6 weeks prior to travelling. This enables any vaccinations given time to develop effective protection against the relevant diseases. We request that a travel questionnaire is completed by the patient and brought along to their appointment;
